Epidemics were common before education was made available to the masses. People were not taught the ways of preventing the spread of simple contagious diseases. Hospitals were few and medicine was not available.
Whenever there was an epidemic, the authorities and the people did not know what to do. Some blamed the epidemic on people coming from other countries. Others thought it was caused by eating a kind of fish. Still other thought it was because of an unfriendly spirit.
After mass education and vaccination were introduced, the epidemics became less. During the 1600’s smallpox raged throughout the country. The supply of food was affected because sick adults could not work. Those who were not sick could not work either because they had to take care of the sick children in their families.
Today, we know that epidemics can be stopped and avoided by observing simple health rules in our everyday life.
The earth is now overpopulated. This situation grows worse day after day, year after year and brings about more problems for each and everyone of us and for the coming generations. This is because farmlands become subdivisions for more people to live in. Some are made shopping malls and establishment. The more people there are, the greater the need for social services, such as schools, hospitals, and transportation facilities. Jobs become harder to find, a lot of people now are jobless even there’s a lot of businesses are being construct. Garbage becomes a bigger problem, especially if people do not mind where they throw their garbage. Very often, they grow garbage in lakes and rivers, on street corners- anywhere-thus causing air, water and soil pollution. Flash flood results when drainage becomes clogged. We should help one another to make our world a safe place to live for our children, grandchildren and for the next generations.
The economy of most nations will rise or fall depending on the performance of their respective business sectors. When big business fails to contribute positively to economic growth, the burden is shifted almost completely to small business. This is because small business can take advantage of small business opportunities that abound everywhere.
A particular case in point is the hope currently placed on small Mexican, businesses to help the country. the Mexican government has realized that its ailing economy can be nursed back to health with the help of small exporters so they can contribute a bigger share in rebuilding the Mexican economy.
Even countries with advances economies like the United States and Great Britain have programs that continually assist small business. In the Philippines the government and the business sectors have long recognized the need to assist local entrepreneurs and small business operators.
The assistance provided are direct and indirect come from the government and private concerns. It will be to the advantage of the entrepreneur of the small business operator to be familiar with the kinds of assistance provided and where these come from.
