I enjoy being a hero in my own little way. I feel like one when I offer my seat to an old woman at the train station. I feel happy when I patiently help an old man or woman crossing a busy street when going home after school. I feel like one when I do my work fast and well.

You, too, can be a little hero. Discover it yourself.

Operating small business does not necessarily mean catering exclusively to local markets. The global market, vast as it is , may have segments with products or service needs but which are inadequately served, if they are served at all by any business. These foreign segments may be more profitable than the local markets currently served by a particular small business. If the small business operator would want to serve a foreign market, he is contemplating to engage in international business.

The situation cited above is reversed when a particular local market segment is not adequately served by any local business, if they are served at all. If the small business operator wants to serve this local market, his firms must be made ready to enter the world of international business.

There are many ways of engaging in international business, but exporting and importing are the most appropriate for small business. The next concern of the small business operator is to determine the profit potentials of these two means when used by his firm.
